A Little Bit of McNasty and a Trip to SLC

On Thursday many of the staff at our school converged at our local McDonalds for "McTeacher's Night" with our Parent Teacher Organization to help earn money for our school.
I signed up for all three hours because I'm a "trucker's widow" right now, and I didn't really have much else to do.
It was totally gross, but I had a blast.
When we got there, the owner and his wife greeted all of us and asked us which jobs we'd like to do. I kind of wanted to do the drive-through, but another teacher had snagged that already, so the boss-man pushed me towards the french fry vats.
It was totally gross, as you can imagine. The nice worker there taught me how to use the fryer, and after a couple of minutes and several flub-ups, I got the hang of it. It was a busy night at McDonald's...lots of students and their families came. I did the fries most of the night, with a short stint out on the street holding the sign trying to get people to get into the restaurant. In the back, sometimes I had another teacher working with me, but most of the time I was alone. We had to fill up the fry hopper at least twice, and the guys in the back were totally hilarious.
After three hours pouring over hot vats of grease, I had to run back to school to finish my sub plans for Friday. I was there until about 9:15, then came back home to get ready for the trip to Salt Lake. Ryan called and we talked for a while (God bless you military wives...my husband's only been gone a week and I can't stand the silence...), and then I went to sleep. I woke up a time or two to tinkle and the alarm went off at 3:30 am. I was out the door at 4:30 to meet the rest of the travelers by 5 am. We left and stopped at a McDonald's in another town about 6ish. As we were eating our "McNasties" some cowboys came in. REAL cowboys--spurs, hats, bandanas, chaps. One of the other teachers that lives out on a ranch (and teaches ONE student there), said they must be doing some heavy-duty driving or something otherwise they wouldn't be dressed that way. Pretty cool.
We got back underway to our conference. It finally got light out as we were about to hit Park CIty. I was able to see the ski jumps from the 2002 Olympics there. We drove into Salt Lake and down State Street. I got to see the capitol building and the temple and lots of yuppies and stuff. I want to go back--it's so pretty!
The conference went well. Love and Logic with Jim Fay. I learned lots of techniques to use in my classroom. I'd love to go to a weeklong targeted-teacher conference with Love and Logic. It sounds so interesting. I was hoping I'd win one, but to no avail.
Now I have three more days off (Wyoming hunting holidays...only in the West). I hope I can get the house cleaned and lots of homework done. I'm bound to be bored, that's for sure. On Tuesday, I might go help another teacher move just to get out of the house....
Have a good weekend, JU.
Oh...our school earned over $1,000 at McDonald's. They donate 20% of sales. It was awesome.

You have to realize that I live in a very small, blue-collar town. Heaven forbid someone make some observations.

Riiiiiight...and all the other snide comments you've made in previous weeks were "jokes"?

No, I was being straight about those ones.
But I was just making a friendly joke here. Extrapolate what you want.
I fail to see how you could've seen that comment as snide towards you in any way - I was making fun of yuppies, not you.
