Just the daily (or...sometimes daily) rantings of ME!

So, after I was diagnosed with the diabetes, I had to keep a diet journal for two weeks. I didn't change anything, just ate like I normally do. After those two weeks my doctor and I sat down and went through and talked about different options for my diet. Obviously chocolate is a big stumbling block for me. I can still have it, just not the punds at a sitting, you know? She gave me some different options for breakfast. Two eggs and a slice of toast are my standard now. I love eggs, so it's all good.

Anyway, that was eight days ago.

I went in today, got on the scale...

and FIVE POUNDS WERE GONE. In EIGHT days. That's crazy to me.

I haven't felt TOO deprived. I've found that I really like pears and apples, and mozzarella sticks really aren't that bad.

I've also found that I'm way fuller if I wait than if I just chow down. It's crazy. I've been eating supper while I type this (and I've been watching my signature show, The 40-Year-Old Virgin). So it's been settling, and now I'm full. Yippee! That, coupled with lots of water, a higher-protein, lower-carb diet, and five pounds are absolutely GONE.

So cool. I go back in a week. Hopefully another five pounds will be gone.

My sugars have been down, too. They're still higher than normal, but at least they're generally under (and around the middle 100's) 200, when they were close to 300 prior to the diet change.

I got news last week at the doctor that I have a 3 cm cyst on my left ovary. That's pretty substantial. I have intermittent pain, but it doesn't double me over or make me miss work, so for right now we're going to leave it and recheck again in a couple months.

Wow that is great, Marcie.  It's always good to say goodbye to those extra pounds.

Only like 100 more to go. lol

Thanks, though, Loca. This is the first time I've ever had some success with weight loss. I'm excited!

Hey Marcie-- I missed the diabetes article. Seems like the health issues never end for you -- but I'm glad you are sorting it out.

Congrats on the five pounds!

shades~

I'm a loser. I'm 27 years old and the only excitement in my life is my students beating the crap out of each other and seeing what my blood sugar is twice a day. It's a boring kinda life.

Thank you for the congrats, though. I'm so "stoked"!

How are things on the east coast? I haven't been around much... Take care!
